6 Milloo Place
Maggie Dwyer’s house appears like any other in Warrnambool’s Woollen Mill estate, but the modern façade hides more than 100 years of history. Designed by Chris Steel and built by Chris Owen, the former Woollen Mill administration centre has been sensitively adapted into a home.
Evident historic preservation includes soaring ceilings, exposed beams and pipes, original floorboards and remnants of the original wall paper. An old fire door separates the original building which forms the open plan living spaces.
The house has a six star rating by using innovative modifications including a water tank for garden use, solar panels and triple insulation in the walls and ceilings.
