Council has approved the release of the Brierly Reserve Sports and Community Hub concepts for community feedback.
The concepts were developed following extensive community engagement in June this year that included:
- 10 in-depth consultations with key community knowledge holders.
- 12 responses to an online community survey that was promoted through targeted and boosted social media channels.
- 54 conversations with members of the community at two in-person community engagements across two days, held in north Warrnambool locations.
- 58 reactions and 31 comments from four posts on social media.
The consultation found the community wanted the Brierly facilities to include:
- compliant sporting change rooms and club rooms;
- multi-use space for community and hire purposes;
- space for health and community support services; and,
- space for child play groups and parent groups to meet.

The image below is a draft floor plan.
The proposed facility will be first fully accessible community centre in the city able to be used by residents with complex disabilities.
The building is projected to cost an estimated $14.6 million by 2027.
Council will seek Victorian and Australian government funding to support the project.
So far, work at Brierly has included the redevelopment of the Eastern Oval to include cricket, two soccer pitches, lighting and fencing. This work was done with funding of $1 million from the Victorian Government with matching funding from Council.
Please let us know what you think of the concept plans via the survey below.
Your feedback will help refine the concepts ahead of the development of a business case for the hub that will be considered by Council later this year.
