Dennington Playground Relocation

We’re keen to hear your thoughts about the relocation of the Dennington playground.
Consultation Open
Closes:

Have your say about the relocation of the Dennington playground to Coghlans Reserve North Dennington.

Due to safety concerns, Council removed the playground from the Dennington Recreation Reserve in 2024. We are now looking to relocate the playground to another site in Dennington.

We’re keen to hear your thoughts about the relocation of the playground and the new equipment it may include. To have your say, please complete the survey at the bottom of this page. A hard copy of the survey is also available at the Civic Centre 25 Liebig Street Warrnambool.

Playground location

During our assessment of new locations for the playground we have considered the following criteria from our Play Space Strategic Framework:

  • Equitable access to playgrounds for all (within 400m walking distance)
  • Seating
  • Accessible paths to and from the playground
  • Lighting of key areas surrounding the playground

We have found a suitable sites for the playground in the northern section of Coghlans Reserve, North Dennington – between Bourne Boulevard and Gat Sing Way. The Coghlans Reserve site would provide playground access to residents in North Dennington – who presently do not have a playground within 400 metres safe walking distance.

Playground equipment

The equipment that will be repurposed at the new playground includes:

  • 2 Slides (1200mm and 800mm)
  • 3 Climbers
  • Firepole
  • Crawl Tube
  • Interactive panels

Council can also add some new playground equipment like:

  • Spinners & Carousels
  • Springers
  • Seesaws
  • Swings
  • Outdoor Fitness Equipment

The type and amount of equipment that can be added will depend on the project budget, but we are keen to know your preferences so we can consider them in the design.

How will we use your feedback?

Your feedback about the location of the playground will be considered when Council determines the relocation site. Your preferences for new equipment will be considered in the playground design at the chosen location.
