Share your ideas to help develop Warrnambool’s Carbon Reduction Framework. We're continuing our work to find new ways to reduce emissions from both Council operations and the wider community, and we would like your input.
Warrnambool City Council is committed to responding to climate change. This requires reducing Council's greenhouse gas emissions as well as supporting the community and business to reduce emissions. Climate action is a shared responsibility requiring Council, the community, businesses, and partner organisations to work together.
Council is developing a Carbon Reduction Framework (CRF). The CRF will provide a clear, evidence-based roadmap for how Council and the wider community can achieve meaningful emission reductions to 2040. This project specifically supports the Warrnambool 2040 Goal 10: Zero Warrnambool - demonstrate innovative solutions to achieve zero net emissions for a renewable future.
At a recent CRF workshop we gathered community ideas on how to reduce emissions. Some of the feedback included:
- more education and information about solar and battery options
- financial support, rebates or incentives to help people take action
- more support for electric vehicle uptake
- more reliable and frequent public transport
- greater support for home composting and reducing food waste
We understand that not everyone interested in local climate action could attend the workshop, so we are providing other ways for you to share your ideas.
