The South West is home to vibrant communities, innovative and globally competitive businesses, and some spectacular cultural and natural attractions.
It also has challenges.
In the wake of the pandemic, domestic tourism has rebounded however the region is still working to attract international visitors and to fully recover economically.
The region is relatively remote. Public transport options are limited, and travel distances between towns and major markets can be significant. This can be a barrier to businesses seeking to expand and for some potential visitors, particularly those from interstate or overseas. Increasing the Region’s accessibility is therefore vital to enable the South West to realise its full economic potential.
The South West Victoria Alliance, comprising the municipalities of Warrnambool, Moyne, Corangamite, Southern Grampians, Glenelg and Colac-Otway, is working to identify potential demand for future air services to the region.
