What we consulted you about

Warrnambool City Council in conjunction with the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority (GHCMA) will undertake a flood investigation of riverine and storm tide (oceanic) flooding for the South Warrnambool catchment. South Warrnambool has previously been affected by flooding, most recently in October 2020.

A flood investigation is a comprehensive investigation of flood behaviour for an area. It provides detailed information about the nature of flood risk including the distribution, extent, depths, levels and velocity of floodwaters for a range of storm events including historic and design flood events.

Feedback is needed from landowners, residents, and businesses to help draw on local knowledge accumulated from past floods in South Warrnambool. These insights are pivotal. Feedback can be provided by completing an online survey.

The survey is an opportunity to contribute to the technical work relating to flood risk in South Warrnambool. The survey also provides an opportunity for interested community members to nominate to be part of the Project Reference Group.

Speak with us in person: Council and the GHCMA will also host a listening post at the Pavilion, Viaduct Road in the LaBella function room on Tuesday, 1 November 2022 (9am to 5pm). Here residents can bring along old photos and maps and tell us what has happened during certain flooding events. No appointment necessary.

General Information: You are welcome to contact the City Strategy team on 5559 4800 or planning@warrnambool.vic.gov.au with any questions in relation to the online survey.
